A Fresh Perspective

After the last time I posted from poolside in Penang, Malaysia, my husband and I eventually continued on to Kuala Lumpur where we spent a few days sightseeing and shopping.

We found nice malls and Mexican food; visited the Petronas Towers, aquarium, and bird park; and learned how to ride the monorail. We saw an Uzbekistan Airways office and popped in to say hello. The city was a lot of fun. I even bought my first ever iPad. (I know, I’m way behind. I never even owned a flat screen TV until 2015, ha ha. I’m all about keeping things until they don’t work anymore.)

We flew back to Tashkent via Singapore, and after a quick tear through the duty free, we were en route home. From the plane window I snapped views as Thailand, Burma, India, Pakistan and Afghanistan passed underneath us. Eventually Uzbekistan came into sight and I have to say that I was happy to be home. Chaos at the passport control and baggage claim areas couldn’t touch me: I was going to sleep in my own bed again.

Since I’ve been back for about a week and a half now, I have to say that I have a fresh perspective on my work. My mind feels clearer, my patience greater, my curiosity renewed.

I’m also trying to rest better, be more organized (if that’s possible), and create more work-life balance on a weekly basis. So far it’s going decently well, although I’ve been tired and achy lately. In some of the free time I generate (other than that which is already dedicated to Netflix and wine!), my goal in the next month is to work on my blog a bit. I’d like to make some organizational changes with categories and tags, and do some streamlining. I’d also like to find ways to make my blog more visible to new readers.

Oh, what a fresh perspective a little R&R can bring!
